I don't usually watch a lot of award shows. I'll catch the highlights the following day, but typically the only award show I make sure to sit down and catch is the Grammys.

I'll mute the TV when Bieber hits the stage, or take the pup outside for a few when Ariana Grande is on the mic, but when it comes time to announce the award for Best Rock Album, then I'm all in.

This year is looking a bit more promising than others in the past and for these 5 reasons:

1. Daft Punk will return to the stage after laying low for three years. Seriously, they haven't performed live since their last Grammys award show. Does this mean they will be touring this year? (There has been specualtion since their debut album turns 20 this year) As of now, noone knows, but this is a good start.

2.  Dave Grohl is teaming up with A Tribe Called Quest and Anderson .Paak for a performance and I am preparing my ears for this amazingness right meow! Dave Grohl is king of the eclectic collaborations. Remember this Grammy performance from 2012?

3. Twenty One Pilots have been nominated for FIVE awards including Best Rock Performance for Heathens. I hope they take all five home, they deserve it!

4. Some of our favorite bands are up for Best Rock Album! For reals. Cage, Panic!, Weezer, and Blink-182 will be duking it out for the the little gold statue. Who do you think will take it home?

5. James Corden will be hosting the whole shindig this year! I personally am a fan of Corden, and not from The Late, Late Show, (you really think I stay up that late on school nights?) but from all his Carpool Karaoke videos! One of my favorites is the one he did with RHCP. Funny stuff :)

The 59th Grammy Awards airs February 12th on CBS. Will you be watching? Find me on Twitter:
