New Music Discovery: Phantogram, King Princess, White Reaper and more!

May 31, 2019

New music discovery is what we do and we love sharing it with you! A handful of artists we dig dropped new tunes today and I'd love to know your thoughts, take a listen:

Phantogram - Into Happiness - This is the first new song from Sarah and Josh in three years and I'm on board! The duo expressed on Instagram that this "Into Happiness" embodies the personal journey they have been on. "It's been a long path, coming out of the darkness and into the light." This song definitely has a more positive vibe to it than some of their older tunes and I am really enjoying it. Can't wait to hear it live at Capitol Hill Block Party this July!

King Princess - Cheap Queen - Mikaela Straus, who goes by King Princess on stage, has been making music since she was young, like eleven years old, young. Impressive! Growing up around musicians and hanging out in her father's recording studio in Brooklyn, NY she learned how to play guitar, bass and the piano. Within the last year her debut single, "1950" (an ode to untold queer histories) became a huge hit! Her latest song is the first offering from her forthcoming debut album which will drop later this year!

White Reaper - Might Be Right - They rocked our sandals off at Summer Camp last year, they were hand-picked by The Foo Fighters to play Cal Jam Fest and today they dropped another solid tune on us. These guys SHRED live and continue to please earholes with their guitar-pop flair. This song is perfect for that weekend chill playlist, check it out!

Middle Kids - I've been a fan of this Indie-Alt band for years. The trio stems from Sydney, Australia and they are currently opening up sold out shows for Local Natives. They recently came by the studio to play some of their new songs for us, and I have since had this one on repeat:

Feel free to reach out on Twitter and let me know what you think of these new songs!
