Stomping Grounds: Kent

I moved to Kent in July with my pup and many people have asked, "why did you move so far away from the city?"

First of all, it's only 20-25 minutes from downtown and second, because I found an affordable, quiet and spacious place for Nix (my doggers) and myself. So why not? Yes, I hit traffic on the way to work every. single. day., but I honestly don't mind it. The morning commute gives me a chance to listen to Gregr and soak in some of Washington's beauty.

Although I still have more exploring to do in Kent, I have made a big enough dent in town to give you a handful of stellar spots to check out. Here's what I have for you!:

Name: Alyssa
Job: Holding down the fort mid-days on The End
I live in: Kent!

Trappers Sushi
So fresh and delicious and not too pricey. It's located in the heart of Kent Station and usually pretty busy. I've been here a few times and have loved everything I've ordered. The Mt. Si roll is my favorite, try it!

Bri's Beans
Conveniently located near the on-ramp for 167, this little, magical coffee stand is ALWAYS open! Even on Christmas day! They are always extremely friendly and make some of the most delicious lattes and specialty drinks. If you've ever wanted to try white coffee, stop by Bri's Beans.

Morrill Meadows
Everything you're looking for in a dog park, you will find at Morrill Meadows. There are two separate areas, one for small (or timid) dogs and a large area for the bigger fur babies. The entire area is fenced in with two water stations and is stocked with bags for their biz. There even is a mini agility course for the overachievers :) My dog Nix approves.

MOD Pizza
I have pretty high standards when it comes to pizza. I was born into a large Italian family, what do you expect? MOD is hands down my favorite pizza in Kent. Naked Pizza in Kent Station comes in a close second, but MOD just tastes fo fresh and they nail the thin crust just how I like it. I'm not a fan of super greasy pizza either, and you don't have to waste a bunch of napkins dabbing off all the grease with their pies. Do the right thing when you're craving a slice in Kent and go here.

Cow Chip Cookies
Seriously. The best chocolate chip cookie I have ever had! And I have eaten A LOT of choc chip cookies, I have a bit of a sweet tooth :) They make other cookies, too. Their oatmeal raisin and double chocolate are also very tasty. This is a must-visit when walking around Kent Station!
