Record Store Day is like Christmas (or insert your favorite holiday here) for music lovers and vinyl junkies! It's a day where people get up early to wait outside until their favorite local record shop opens to be one of the first to grab the special releases hot off the press! Each year, we get a nice stash of never-before-released music on vinyl and it's always a party!

This year turned out to be the biggest record celebration yet for a couple Seattle area spots!

@recordstoredayus IS NUTS. Largest crowd we’ve ever had! @jeffamentsarmy signing #PearlJam records! #rsd #rsd2019 #recordstoreday

Biggest turnout ever!!! THANK YOU to all who came today. If you weren’t able to make it out today all leftover RSD titles will go live on our website at 5:00 AM pst. If you’re local you can choose the “local pickup” option and pickup in the store! Link in bio. #rsd2019 #rsd19 #vinylcollector #vinylrecords @hivoltagerecords

While I was in line I bumped into End Friend, Ian, who picked up some new digs from Wallows, Ben Gibbard, Weezer and Soccer Mommy:

I made friends with the ladies behind me in line who were also eyeing that Pearl Jam special release, Live at Easy Street. (Side note - we all freaked when Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam casually walked by us saying "hi"!)

Sure, waiting in line for an hour just to get inside might seem painful, but it definitely has its perks; you could possibly meet and hang with a member of Pearl Jam! And some owners may even show their appreciation for your business by handing out breakfast beers while you're waiting to check out:

One of my favorite things about Record Store Day is seeing what my friends were able to grab on their vinyl hunt. Friend of The End, Collin shared his haul that he picked up at Silver Platters in Lynnwood and it's pretty impressive!:

Even though I wasn't able to get my hands on a copy of Green Day's Woodstock '94 record, I'm still content with albums I made off with:

Record Store Day is a ton of fun and I hope to see you out there sifting next time! Go for the vinyl exclusives, stay for the music nerd convos.
