Coldplay announces Seattle stop for 2017 "A Head Full Of Dreams" tour

October 7, 2016

Coldplay has announced a Seattle stop for the band's 2017 North American "A Head Full Of Dreams" tour.

Chris Martin and the boys will play a likely sold-out CenturyLink Field on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Ticket presales will begin October 13 at 10:00 a.m. - and end on October 14 at 10:00 p.m. (if it doesn't sell out before then).

The last time Coldplay played for Seattleites was on April 25, 2012 at KeyArena for a whopping 14,244 people. CenturyLink Field's crowd for the U2 show during the band's "360°" tour in 2011 was 69,439. If Coldplay is able to pull a crowd that large (or larger) in 2017, you're looking at a 487 percent increase in attendance since the last time they played the rainy Northwest.

To put that in perspective, The Rolling Stones played for 69,132 people at the Kingdome in 1981. Beyoncé pulled only 40,615 to Safeco in 2014.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, but Coldplay's 2017 concert could be one of the biggest concerts to come to Seattle if it performs near as well as the venue allows.
