Dave Grohl pulls out of Grammys performance, but might be working on the new Queens of the Stone Age album

February 3, 2017

Unfortunately, it appears Dave Grohl will NOT be performing with Anderson.Paak and A Tribe Called Quest at the Grammys this year.

On Friday, the Recording Academy released a statement, which said:

"Earlier this week, we announced that Dave Grohl would be performing with Anderson .Paak and A Tribe Called Quest prior to confirming all participants. Dave Grohl will not be part of this performance. Unfortunately, our announcement was made prematurely. On behalf of The Recording Academy and AEG Ehrlich Productions, we sincerely apologize to all parties involved for our error."

While we don't know exactly why Grohl pulled out of the show, we do have a couple clues.

The Foo Fighters have already confirmed that work on a new album is already underway, but Grohl might also be participating in the creating of a new Queens of the Stone Age album, which we can speculate based on his recent appearance in Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes ' since-deleted Instagram photo with QOTSA's Josh Homme.

QOTSA will have a new album in 2017, and Grohl has previously collaborated with the band on QOTSA albums and played with Homme in the supergroup Them Crooked Vultures.

While it's a bummer we don't get to see the Grohl/Paak/ATCQ collab at the Grammys, if the reason is Foo + QOTSA albums in 2017 with Grohl, I'll be alright.
