Did you see the meteor over the PNW this weekend?

July 31, 2017

If you were lucky enough to be standing outside late on Saturday night, you could have seen a meteor flash across the Pacific Northwest in a ball of green fire!

At a wedding out in my hometown of Maple Valley on Saturday night for my friend Ryan, I stepped out to the back road to pee (don't judge, it was on a farm) and when I looked up, I couldn't believe what I was seeing as the big chunk of rock travelled across the sky and scared the crap out of me.

Based on witness reports, The American Meteor Society was able to plot the path of the meteor that traveled Northwest toward Everett. In true PNW fashion, the meteor emitted a green light behind it (I hear it's a huge Sounders fan).

Did you see the Northern Lights in Seattle?

Now here's where it gets weird. Just a little more than months ago, Ryan was at MY bachelor party and we were standing out on Whidbey Island for a while when we looked up to see the freaking Northern Lights over the Puget Sound. Every time I'm with Ryan, space stuff happens (space stuff is the technical term).

Either Ryan is an alien with a lost species trying to get ahold of him, or the two of us have just insane luck when it comes to seeing this kind of stuff.

Did you see the meteor? Send me your pictures!
