July 8, 2016

Did you miss new music that dropped this week? Now you never will. Each Friday, The End rounds up all the new music from the last week we think you should be listening to. Sit down, pop on your headphones and let us know what you think of the newest music to land inside our ears. #NewMusicDiscovery

Local Natives - Fountain Of Youth

Local Natives dropped their third single of their upcoming album Sunlit Youth (Sept. 9) this week. "Fountain Of Youth" is another solid hit for the bandm following up their two previous acclaimed singles from the new album, "Past Lives" and "Villainy."

The Pixies - Um Chagga Lagga

While you sat in your leather chair, the one with the brass rivets on the arms, reminiscing on the good ol' days of alternative rock and how much the music of old had evolved and incorporated many new shapes, The Pixies burst in through your cigar smoke and slapped you across the face with “Um Chagga Lagga,” their new single off an also newly-announced album titled Head Carrier, which made you spit your 150 year old scotch across your hand-bound book case. The Pixies are back doing things and they don't really care if you care.

Bad Bad Not Good - IV

It's jazz. It's hip-hop. It's pretty damn good. Bad Bad Not Good is a trio of Canadian guys who met in a college jazz class in Toronto and bonded over their love of hip-hop. You might expect the end result to sound kind of, well, Drake-ish, but they cover more of the sounds from Tyler, The Creator's outfit Odd Future and Wu-Tang's Ghostface Killah. Theor latest album, IV, takes a bit more of a jazz turn, but has a few solid hip-hop tracks like "Hyssop Of Love" featuring Mick Jenkins, who will be playing this year's Capitol Hill Block Party.

The Avalanches - Wildflower

They dropped a debut album in 2000, then they were gone. We haven't heard much from The Avalanches in 16 years, but they are back with a new album, Wildflower, and they pick up right where they left off. The new album features collaborations with Father John Misty, Toro y Moi and Biz Markie, to name a few. You can hear their single "Colours" below.
