Twenty One Pilots take over the internet with new song "Heathens"

June 17, 2016

Did you miss new music that dropped this week? Now, you never will. Each Friday, The End rounds up all the new music from the last week we think you should be listening to. Sit down, pop on the ol' headphones and let us know what you think of the freshest of the fresh new tunes to hit the airwaves. #NewMusicDiscovery

What was new in the world of music last week?

Twenty One Pilots

After taking over the internet after Twenty One Pilots' new song "Heathens" leaked all over the internet Wednesday night, by Thursday morning, it was gone, scrubbed from the internet. Now, the song, which will appear on the Suicide Squad soundtrack is available for streaming and you can hear it on 107.7 The End.

The new jam from Phantogram (shall we say, Phantojam?) is a banger. After dropping on Wednesday, the band was performing it on Fallon on Thursday and who knows, maybe it'll be the national anthem by Friday.

Another song that will be featured on a movie soundtrack, Hozier is back at it with his powerful vocals in his first song since his breakthrough self-titled album. "Better Love" dropped Thursday and is featured on the The Legend Of Tarzan soundtrack. Next stop for Hozier should be a collab with Phil Collins, probably.

Thursday was a big day for new music. After Hozier and Twenty One Pilots, we got "Good Grief" from Bastille. The song is the first one shared from their forthcoming album Wild World.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Friday marked a big day for a lot of Red Hot Chili Peppers fans. After releasing the Olivia Wilde-directed music video for "Dark Necessities" on Thursday, Friday marked the release of their new album The Getaway. You can stream it in full below:

Chris Staples

We end the week of New Music Discovery with music from Seattle-native Chris Staples. Early in the week, he shared the softly-strummed and sung "Relatively Permanent" off his forthcoming album Golden Age, due out August 19.
