Need a quick idea to get out of town for a day or even the weekend? Bellingham is just 88 miles north and you need less than a tank of gas to get up there. Here's a list of the spots you should hit this weekend while you explore the sleepy City of Subdued Excitement, supported by Western Washington Honda Dealers:

1. Breakfast at Homeskillet

This place is on a whole nother level! #homeskillet #bellingham #montuckycoldsnacks #montucky #nofilter #pnw #foodporn #breakfast

Head up early and head up hungry. Make your first stop at my favorite breakfast spot Homeskillet, otherwise known as the best breakfast joint in Bellingham because of dishes like their Mexi Skillet and their small animal-sized "The Cure" burrito that will most likely leave you with leftovers for the next two days. If you need a little morning pick-me-up, don't forget their custom mimosa menu.

2. Go explore Locust Beach

After you finish up breakfast, take a trip to the not-so-secret-but-supposedly-hidden Locust Beach (I can already hear the locals grumbling at me for revealing the location). Park by the railroad tracks and follow the trail all the way down to the beach and check out some of the hidden gems like the tree forts and recycled art.

3. Grab some coffee at the scenic Boulevard Park Woods Coffee

The coffee is good, but you can't beat the location of this iconic Bellingham coffee shop. Drive on down to Boulevard Park for a cup of coffee or tea and take it to-go so you can enjoy a walk down the boardwalk over the bay and into old-town Fairhaven for shopping and olive-oil tasting.

4. Eat Lunch/Dinner at the legendary Boundary Bay Brewery

Highland Reserve Scotch Ale is on tap now! You can also snag a pint of it in the beer garden at the Bellingham Scottish Highland Games, June 3-5! #SaveTheAles

If you are looking to wet your whistle and grab a bite before the short trip home, go grab a pint and a bowl of delicious macaroni and cheese (or my personal favorite beer beef stew) from Bellingham's most famous brew-pub, Boundary Bay Brewery. Pick up the famous "Save The Ales" sweatshirt while you're there to become a true Bellinghamster.

Those are just a few things you can fill your time with in Bellingham this weekend. What did we miss? Leave us a comment below or tweet to @1077theend and let us know!
