The Seattle April Concert Preview

Radiohead, The xx, Bastille, The 1975, and more

February 8, 2017

April is going to be a big month for PNW folk who like live music. There are a ton of big-name acts coming through Seattle this year, but April seems to be the month that everyone wants to pay the city a visit.

Here are a few of the biggest shows you can catch in April.

Radiohead - April 8, Key Arena (sold out)
It's been awhile since Radiohead has made it out to our corner of the country, and the show selling out in a manner of minutes is a testament to their continued popularity. If you were one of the lucky ones to snag a ticket, enjoy the hell out of it, because there were a lot of people who would love to be where you are going to be the night of April 8.

Weezer - April 9, The Showbox (sold out)
It's one thing to see a Weezer show, but getting to see Weezer at The Showbox with just 1,099 other people is going to be insane. Again, this show sold out faster than you can say "Pinkerton," and the atmosphere is likely going to create a night those that make it won't ever forget.

The xx - April 24, WaMu Theater
The xx are touring their new album I See You, which is heavily influenced by Jamie xx's brief solo career where he honed in his electronic sound. It'll be interesting to see how the show translates live, but expect a lot of energy over the sleepy sound of the English rockers. This is also a good time to catch their opener Sampha, who just dropped his solo album and it's legit.

Bastille - April 26, WaMu Theater
This is another show that might be a TON of fun. WaMu is a big open venue with plenty of people on the floor, but with their music, expect it to be one big dancefloor. It might be a tough venue to truly rock out, but anyone who attended Twenty One Pilots last year knows the place can bump.

Bishop Briggs - April 18, The Showbox
Bishop Briggs puts on one of the best live shows, period. Whether she's in front of 10 people in our studio here at The End or jamming outside in front of 5,000, her energy from the stage along with her insanely powerful voice is infectious. This will be THE show in April, in my opinion.

The 1975 - April 30, WaMu Theater
WaMu is getting a ton of action this April, and The 1975 are sure to pack the place out with their adoring fans if their show in the venue last year is anything to base our predictions from. Expect lots of screaming and lots of dancing.

Joseph - April 27, The Showbox
Portland sister band Joseph is hitting up The Showbox in late April and if you haven't caught the Joseph train yet, this is your chance. Every time they play live here, the venue they book gradually increases in size. It won't be long until they have a shot at packing out the Paramount for a couple nights like fellow locals The Head and the Heart did last November.

Kaleo - April 7 (The Showbox), April 8 (Showbox SoDo)
The Icelandic band is baaaaack. The demand for Kaleo was so great that their single show at The Showbox turned into two shows, with the second being at Showbox SoDo on April 8 (in case you didn't score Radiohead tickets).
