Is September about to be the best month of music in 2016 (a year already full of good new music)?

I feel like you can only describe 2016’s musical offerings up to this point in one way. It’s like waking up Christmas morning, walking downstairs to see what’s under the tree to find everything you wanted, along with things you didn’t even know you wanted, plus Billy Joe Armstrong laying under the tree screaming at you while playing his very low-hanging guitar.

Last week's new music from Green Day, Young The Giant and Manatee Commune

This year, we have already had new David Bowie (RIP), Blink-182, Weezer, Radiohead, Ra Ra Riot, The 1975, Macklemore, Miike Snow, Band Of Horses and Young The Giant (swoon), just to name a few.

Even with all of that new music, September is about to be like that moment after you already opened all of your gifts and you sat back, fat and happy, only for your mom to take out an industrial-sized confetti cannon full of EVEN MORE GIFTS and launch it straight at your face.

September 9 by itself is already poised to be the biggest day of new music in 2016 as it is the announced drop date for new albums from The Head And The Heart, Bastille, Fences, Grouplove, Local Natives and M.I.A.

That is just ONE DAY in September.

Come Sept. 23rd, we get new tunes from How To Dress Well, then we hit the jackpot for a second time in September with new albums from Banks, Bon Iver, The Mowgli’s, Pixies and Regina Spektor (remember her?), all on Sept. 30.

So yeah, September is about to fulfill 2016’s new music quota, and then some.

It looks like musical Santa (aka the entirety of the band ZZ Top) came early this year.
