Washington State Ferry collides with boat in middle of the Puget Sound

December 5, 2016

A Washington State Ferry struck a small boat in the Puget Sound on Sunday afternoon and thankfully it's 2016, which means YouTube user Amanda Shuffield had her phone out to record the whole thing.

UPDATE: The name of the boat the ferry hit is "Nap Tyme," which is only the second most relevant name it could have been, only behind "S.S. I Want This Boat To Be Hit By A Ferry."

Unfortunately, nobody was screaming "WORLDSTAR!" in the background, but check this out:

The ferry called Chetzemoka was carrying passengers from Point Defiance to Talequah on Sunday afternoon when a (much) smaller vessel was motoring directly into its path. I don't know maritime law so I don't know who is at fault, but I imagine the smaller boat, being more agile, would be more likely to have the ability to get out of the way.

The smaller ship takes the hit like a champ, though, and just puts off into the sunset, probably blaring "Nothin' But a G Thang" blaring in the background. Apparently there were no injuries and besides a 30-minute delay, the ferries just got back on their way.
