Deck The Hall Ball 12.03.13 2013

December 5, 2013

The Hall Ball is one of my favorite days of the year every year.  It is without a doubt the busiest of the year for me as a photographer as I run back and forth from EndSessions to the main stage to portrait sessions with the bands as well as meet n greets nonstop from morning until night.&nbsp ; If you ever watch the Ultimate Fighter and you see the guys struggling to make weight by sweating as much as possible then you would have a good idea of what I look like on a typical DTHB day...not pretty.  It's so worth it though.

This years Deck lineup was stacked from start to finish.  I was stoked to have the opportunity to interact with each of the bands throughout the day and can honestly say that they were all incredibly nice and fun to be around.  Everyone seemed to be having a good time and I know for a fact I was!

There are hundreds of photos posted HERE on Facebook right now, I wanted to share a few of my favorites on the blog for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks for stopping by,

One of my favorite parts of Deck is snapping portraits of each band.

Lorde was particularly cool as she allowed me to get a little creative using an old window from my Grandmother's house.  Thanks to GregR and Corey for holding the window in place and not breaking it.  The family was glad to get the window put back in..turns out they were pretty cold.

Had to do one without the window too...

The kings of cool...Arctic Monkeys

Head and the heart

Vampire Weekend

One of the funniest parts of the day was right before GregR interviewed Lorde she offered him a chocolate.  There was a little twinkle in her eye when she gave it to him.  Moments later we learned why when GregR exclaimed "Whoa, that is hot!" as tears filled his eyes.  Some comic relief that really broke the ice so to speak.

Another great Lorde moment...this young fan was overwhelming excited to meet her.  Lorde seemed genuinely flattered and happy to meet her too.  In fact, she even kind enough to offer her young fan a piece of chocolate :)

Alex Turner signing some stuff backstage.  Note the two people standing behind them, I don't think they had credentials to be there...must've overrun security :)

I had to do at least one of these with the Arctic Monkeys in honor of the Oxford dictionary word of the year.

This was a scary moment.  I think Pepper was genuinely frightened :)

Here are my favorite live music moments of the day...
