Deck The Hall Ball 12.09.14 @ KeyArena

December 17, 2014

Deck The Hall Ball is consistently one of my favorite events of the year to photograph and this year was possibly the best so far. The lineup was diverse and strong and appealed to a wide range of fans. Below are some of my favorite shots of the day.

I was particularly excited to see the first band in the lineup Royal Blood. These guys have a reputation for rocking hard and they lived up to it and more. We learned later on that Mike was very ill that day but you wouldn't know it from watching him play. Drummer Ben stayed the entire day and late into the night after falling in love with an uber-cute puppy brought by the great team at Motley Zoo Animal Rescue.

Up next was the very popular Vance Joy. If you listen to the End at all, no doubt you've heard him. By this time next year he will more than likely be a household name world wide as he'll be opening for Taylor Swift on her tour this summer.

Kongos tore up the stage next...

TV On The Radio was another band I hadn't seen perform before. I've heard only amazing things about them. Unfortunately I only got to catch about 2 minutes of their set as I was backstage shooting portraits and meet n greets. However, the brief time I saw them I could tell they were very entertaining.

Young The Giant. They just keep getting better and better. This is really saying something because every time I've seen them they have been mind-blowing.

Cage The Elephant. If you look in the archives of the Live Music Blog you'll see that these guys are some of my favorite performers. Again, I was stuck back stage while they were playing most of their set so I only caught about 1/2 of a song but I know they killed it as so many people I talked to that saw them for the first time were going off about the intensity.

Weezer! What can I say? Weezer performed!

Imagine Dragons closed out the night. During the set Dan Reynolds told the crowd that they just signed off on the final mix of their upcoming album backstage moments before performing. They are always energetic but seemed to be even more pumped than normal during Deck!

This crew of zany characters made the day so much fun just like they do every day!
