Mt Rainier prices could be going WAY up!

The National Parks want to more than double the cost.

Getting outside Seattle on the weekend is one of the things we work our faces off all weekend to achieve. But how many extra hours will you have to pay to afford the entrance fees at Mt Rainier National Park?

A car full of hiking pals pulling into Mt Rainier National Park will set you back $30, but the National Parks are floating an idea to raise the cost by more than double to $70 per car. There's a tremendous backlog of maintenance required to keep these facilities operating safely and since the current administration doesn't look keen to put that money into the parks, someone else will have to pick up the slack.

According to, "a 30-day public comment period opened Tuesday. The Park Service says it expects to raise $70 million a year with the proposal at a time when national parks repeatedly have been breaking visitation records and putting a strain on park resources."

It makes sense that we'll have to pay more over time, but 133% increase seems crazy.
