The long time Seattle resident, Steven Severin, is worried about how quickly the music scene in Washington and the rest of the world is falling apart.

We should prepare for a world where the venues in which we congregate for performance art can't come back from the covid-19 collapse.

Let that sink in.

Steven helps run the Washington Nightlife Music Association, a collective of clubs and minds behind our music scene, whose main concern is getting immediate cash relief from the government to keep these businesses moving. As a club/bar/restaurant owner and decades thriving piece in the chess board of art and music in Seattle, Severin has been a big part of what makes this place so special for artists.

I'm shaken by the notion that musicians are cancelling so far into the future, something Severin lays out here for us to contemplate. This is a crisis for the arts. Sure, crisis inspires wondeful creation, but having no home to deliver the art in the future is a problem that your favorite venue is currently facing as a Godzilla size reality.

If live music and art is something you care about, you need to take action with a simple phone call asking for an assist on the following issues:

· Direct cash assistance -NOT LOANS
· Rent forgiveness
· Financial assistance for our workforce
· Tax relief
· Insurance Revisions

Gov. Jay Inslee: 360-902-4111

Or, in Seattle, find your city council rep and tell them this is important to you!

And to think, our community was just shaken up by fighting to save the Showbox...
