Lights @ Showbox 11.15.14

November 15, 2014

With the name "Lights" I expected to find Home Depot and Ikea flooding the result while searching for more information. Those sites were there of course but the artist Lights has become so popular that there she is on page one of Google :) She performed tonight at the Showbox and I was so impressed by her music, her stage presence, everything about her.  She was just awesome.

Something interesting and ingenious I learned about her on her Wikipedia page is that there was already a band called Lights when she got started.  She worked around the copyright problem by having her name legally changed from Valerie Anne Poxleitner to "Lights."  Talk about commitment to her art!  It would be a bit weird if the whole "music thing" didn't work out but lucky for all of us in the universe it did!  She is great!

She played Bumbershoot a couple of years ago as I recall and I remember there were so many photographers clammering to shoot her set that we were only allowed to be in the pit for a little less than one song.  Tonight I got to shoot the full three in the pit and I wanted to stay for more!  Bouncing from instrument to instrument, pacing the stage and putting 100% into the mic the crowd was treating to an energy and talent filled show.  She is headed north to Canada and around the globe for the next few months.  I hope she comes back to Seattle soon. Next time she does make sure you check her out.  In the mean time check out some pics from her show below and some tunes from her album "Little Machines" HERE

I had to share this Lights video.  You may have heard Cody on air at 107.7 The End in recent months.  He's one of the funniest guys I know and as soon as I watched this video I was reminded of him.
