Locals Only Artist Of The Month: Manatee Commune

August 2016

August 1, 2016

If you've had your ear to the ground of the local scene over the last couple years, it's a no-brainer that Manatee Commune (Grant Eadie) has climbed as quickly as he has. Or maybe you just caught Grant's set at this year's Capitol Hill Block Party and thought, "Damn, this kid can groove."

Eadie's solo project under the moniker of Manatee Commune started with house shows in Bellingham but has been blowing up and he has recently played SXSW, Sasquatch, Bonnaroo and Capitol Hill Block Party (the set was ridiculously good).

Listen to The End all of August to hear Manatee Commune's track "What We've Got" (feat. Flint Eastwood).

Manatee Commune, a.k.a. Grant Eadie, began in the misty trees Bellingham, Washington. Combining textures of the rainy woods and the windy seas of the Pacific Northwest with the calming mood of clean surfy guitar licks and rolling arpeggiated sine waves, Manatee Commune seeks to capture the atmosphere of taking a thoughtful, self-reflecting stroll through the forest. Bright, down tempo percussion placed neatly under pleasant, classically influenced viola melodies make his music both easily listenable and complex.
