The #End25 One Hit Wonder Playlist

25 years of good (and not good) music

August 23, 2016

25 years ago, 107.7 The End hit the airwaves with “It’s the End of the World” by R.E.M., and Alternative Radio was born.

Since that fateful day, The End has broke and featured some of the greatest bands of all time like Nirvana, Pearl Jam and the Arctic Monkeys, whose music would define their generations and be staples of our playlists even today.

Of course, The End also played our fair share of one-hit-wonders.

Yes, some sound funny now while others make us blush and have since been swept under the rug with a, “What? No, of course we didn’t play that……..ok, we totally did,”  but these songs, for better or worse, have also helped define our sound over the past 25 years.

In the spirit of celebration, I built a playlist of some of my favorite one-hit-wonder songs over the last 25 years.  Some songs make me sad, like how did Hum only have one hit?  While others had me dancing in my seat.  I can’t wait to see how this list evolves over the next 25 years.

Enjoy the playlist!
