It's the Newish Style: Vol. 1 playlist

January 20, 2017

I listen to a lot of music. A LOT, you guys.  It's the best and worst (depending on the quality of the songs) part of the gig! While I'm always looking for the biggest hits to play you on the radio, I also come across a bunch of sick tunes that deserve your attention as well, even if they don't quite make it on the airwaves.

So I figured I'd start making a monthly playlist for you to check out. Enjoy, share it, and of course make sure you tell me what songs YOU think I should be listening to. I like music, you like music, check out my playlist of cool new tunes I'm digging on.

Run the Jewels - "2100"  this song features Boots, whose WinterSpringSummerFall mixtape is an all-timer, you can watch it on Youtube.

Paerish - "I Got Punched in the Face, What's Your Excuse?"  I mean, after reading that title you HAVE to listen to it, right, you guys?

LP - "Lost On You"  O <clap emoji> B <clap emoji> S <clap emoji> E <clap emoji> S <clap emoji> S <clap emoji> E <clap emoji> D <clap emoji>

Japandroids - "Near to the Wild Heart of Life" Their last album, Celebration Rock is one of my favorites of all time.

Junge Junge - "Run Run Run" This song kicks me in the feels

Moose Blood - "Knuckles" There is a teeeny tiny soft spot in my heart for a good emo song

Sundara Karma - "Loveblood" This is a really good band.  If you like this song, check out their tune "Flame" as well.

Hembree - "Holy Water" Really cool band from KC. I dig the urgency in this song.

SWMRS - "Palm Trees"  The first half reminds me of Waaves...but I don't really get down with Waaves so that's not good. The second half is where its at.  This band features Billie Joe Armstrong's (Green Day) son, Joey.

the XX - "On Hold"   I mean, its The XX.

GRMLN - "Teenage Rhythm"  Really cool dude from California, via Korea!  Get ready for a bunch of killer songs from GRMLN.

Beaty Heart- "Slide to the Side"  This reminds me of Vampire Weekend, and to be honest I don't even think I really like it that much, I just can't get it out of my head.
