Its the Newish Style: Vol 2. Playlist

March 2, 2017

I listen to a lot of music. A LOT, you guys.  It's the best and worst (depending on the quality of the songs) part of the gig! While I'm always looking for the biggest hits to play you on the radio, I also come across a bunch of sick tunes that deserve your attention as well, even if they don't quite make it on the airwaves.

So I figured I'd start making a monthly playlist for you to check out. Enjoy, share it, and of course make sure you tell me what songs YOU think people should be listening to. I like music, you like music, check out my playlist of cool new tunes I'm digging on.

Basement - "Promise Everything"  These guys have a major Sunny Day Real Estate vibe to them, so obviously they are great.  This is probably their most basic song, but it's a good place to start.

White Reaper - "Judy French"  My favorite band from SXSW 2015 is most likely going to be my favorite band at SXSW 2016. Turn this one up loud.

COIN - "I Don't Wanna Dance"  This song is called "I Don't Wanna Dance" but it totally makes me wanna dance. IRONY!

Incubus - "Nimble Bastard" I will always have a soft spot for Incubus.

Troi Irons - "Today"  I love a good melancholy song

Grace Mitchell - "Kids (Ain't All Right)"  I'm realizing as I go through the tracklisting of this playlist that I am clearly a fan of guitars right now.  This song hits so hard, you guys.

Day Wave - "Something Here" Reminds me of every college band from the early 2000's. And I'm cool with that.

Barns Courtney - "Little Boy"  Word on the street is Barns Courtney is finishing his album as we speak. Star in the making.

Vince Staples - "BagBak"  If you were at Showbox SoDo earlier this week you already know how amazing Vince Staples is. Probably my favorite MC out right now.

Boots - "Mercy"  This is totally not a new song but every few months I go back to this. Boots is super overlooked.

Cloud Nothings - "Things Are Right With You  I want to see this song live in a dank club with a whiskey in my hand.
