Portugal. The Man Won Coachella Last Night

April 16, 2018

Every year the music festival season starts down in Indio, California, with the Coachella Music Festival.

Thousands and thousands of dude bros, Instagram models, and live music fans gather in the desert for three days of relentless music. This year's bill was headlined by Beyonce, Eminem and The Weeknd, marking a major departure from the festival's indy rock beginnings.

Thankfully there was a band there to wave the rock and roll flag for us all, and prove that live instruments still matter, and you can be awesome without the help of autotune or Migos (but shout outs to Migos anyway. They're the best!)  And that band was Portugal. The Man. As always, the Lords of Portland did not disappoint, opening with Metallica's "For Whom The Bell Tolls" ending with "Hey Jude" with all of their best jams sandwiched between.  They even had a horn section, backup singers, and a hype man!

Cool, right? They even managed to power through their set despite whoever was running video totally donked things up

We've done a lot of stuff with these guys over the years, so it means a little bit extra to see them slay in front of a massive Coachella crowd. Shout outs to Portugal. The Man for continuing to be the best story of the year. DO NOT miss their performance next weekend at Coachella part 2(?), its streaming on Youtube.
