I like to eat. A lot. Therefore, I figured I would post reviews of the places I go to give you a little insight and maybe some ideas on where you might want to eat with your friends or special someones. Plus, it gives me an excuse to pig out on Seattle's best eats and not feel bad about it, because work!

Before we start, though, I want to make one thing perfectly clear, I am NOT a professional food nerd, nor do I want to be. I don't know the intricacies of French cooking. Heck, I don't even know how to spell "intricacies." It also means that if you ask me where to go to get the best Mexican food, I'll probably send you for street tacos instead of somewhere that has enchiladas with 18 different ingredients in it.    Also, my idea of a fancy pizza is anything with more than two toppings. Basically what I'm getting at is consider these restaurant reviews for the common man/woman.

Got it? Good, let's roll!

There are new restaurants opening in Seattle every 20 minutes so making your mark as a new hot spot is such a challenge. Sawyer opened a few months ago and its been on my must list for quite some time, Located in the old Kicking Boot building, will Sawyer carve itself a niche inside a crowded Ballard dining scene? Lets eat a bunch of stuff and find out!

EATS

Pork belly stick bun.  Look, starting off any meal with pork belly is a good idea.

Artichokes- I promise you there are artichokes underneath that mound of parmesan.  These were decent, but it made me miss the Southwest more than it made me want another order, if that makes sense?

Ahi tuna- Light, delicate, and beautiful to look at

Cheesy bread.  Guys, there's cheese inside that beautiful bread!

Wild boar ribs-  Small and super oily, but good.  Really liked the mustard rub.

Black cod in green curry.  I really wanted this to explode with flavor but it didn't quite do it for me.

The cereal bowl.  Apple Jack ice cream with cinnamon toast streusel.  I know, the description is intruiging!  We had to try it, and were rewarded with a delicious and fun treat.  This was really good!

S'more Choco Taco!  Listen, I LOVE choco tacos so much.  Sawyer used peanut butter ice cream and topped it with meringue and it was <insert swear word> awesome.  Loved it.

Dilly bar.  You guys, the dilly bar is resting on a bed of cookie dough.

Sawyer is one of those places that will wow you with presentation, but slightly underwhelm you with execution.  Not to say the food isn't good, because it is, its just that nothing we ate blew our minds or quite lived up to the description on the menu.  The desserts are the stars of the meal, and I can not stress enough how good the choco taco and cereal bowl were. This is a new restaurant so they are no doubt still dialing things in, if they manage to elevate the rest of their menu to match the quality of the desserts this place could become special.

Go here if...you have a friend in town that wants to go to a "Seattle" restaurant. And if you want some seriously fun desserts!

Don't go here if...you are looking to be blown away by a menu that tastes as good as it sounds.
