That Song Changed My Life: with Miike Snow

July 29, 2016

I like music, you like music and of course, your favorite bands like music.

"What song changed your life?"

I was asked this question a while ago and it has stuck with me ever since. Music is such an amazing thing from how it can turn smiles in to tears or take you from your car to half-way across the world with just a few notes, that I became fascinated with finding out what other people's life-changing songs were.

This week, I hit up Summer Camp artist Miike Snow to see what their life-changing tune was.

"One song changed my life and the way I listen to music ever since was when I heard Kraftwerk for the first time.

It happened to be "Pocket Calculator" but I think it was more the sound the came out of the speakers that left me a bit speechless for a while than that specific song. I was about eight years old and was playing with my friend at his place and I snuck into his older brother's room.

I accidentally pressed play on his boom box and the sound that hit me was something I had never heard before and I was not prepared for it. I completely forgot about that I was, with my eight-year-old boy's perception of the world, in one of the most dangerous places one can be in, my friend's older brother's room. So kept on listening to the song over and over again."
