Over the past year or so, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has talked about a potential reunion with the band’s original lineup, but things just got interesting thanks to a recent Instagram post.

The nostalgic post shows Corgan in the studio with guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, claiming a “cross-eyed spy” snapped the below photo of the three former bandmates.

Could this image showcase the band working on some new material? Check it out and see what you think:

@smashingpumpkins: Not sure what cross-eyed spy took this photo, but we had a visitor to the studio the other day. So many memories when you put the three of us together. @jamesihaofficial @chamberdrums #WPC

To be fair, there have been some recent Pumpkins collabs, with Iha guesting on Corgan’s 2017 solo album, Ogilala, and, as Consequence of Sound notes, Chamberlin teamed up with Corgan for the song “Route 666.” Still, from the image alone, the only missing piece is bassist D’arcy Wretzky, but the thought of 75% of the band together in the studio looks promising.

What do you think?
