LISTEN: Rare Nirvana Set Surfaces From 1991 Gig in Edinburgh, Scotland

December 5, 2017

In late 1991, Nirvana played an acoustic set for Edinburgh, Scotland pub-goers, and audio from the night recently surfaced online.

According to Rolling Stone, the gig took place at the Southern Bar, with Nirvana going by the name “Teen Spirit.” Sneaky.

Rolling Stone also notes (via the Edinburgh News) that Kurt Cobain played acoustic guitar and drummer Dave Grohl manned the bass, but Krist Novoselic reportedly sat this one out, although he was there for the performance.

Below, hear “Dumb,” “Polly,” and part of “Jesus Doesn’t Want Me for a Sunbeam” from the gig.
