Foster The People may have released their latest album, Sacred Hearts Club, this summer, but when it came to writing the album’s title track, the band said that was created long before the album’s release.

You see, many moons ago, in the same place where Prince recorded his self-titled album at Sunset Sound studios, there was a drums-only session held by the group’s Isom Innis and Mark Pontius. But it wasn’t until years later that something came of those recordings—the end result being “Sacred Hearts Club.”

In the video above, watch Foster The People talk about feeling Prince’s spirit, elaborate on writing the song, and explain their creative process in general.
