Show Preview: Nightmare Fortress @ Hollow Earth Radio

November 30, 2012
Local music is a bit of a joke to most people. "yeah, yeah, I mean they're good for being local".... that kind of attitude. But the thing that I think most people overlook is the amount of talent and energy floating around our fine city of Seattle that clocks our scene in at a number of levels above the rest. This weekend marks the first episode of Red and I taking over Locals Only, so I've had my ear to the ground looking for the best of what's around to showcase and one band in particular that caught my attention are playing tonight at a brilliant little space called Hollow Earth Radio located in the Central District.
You've no doubt seen their flyers posted across Capitol Hill, Nightmare Fortress play tonight for the low low price of 5 dollars at around 9:30pm, I'm told (still time to rage on the hill later, just a short walk away). Their sound mixes menacing synths and driving drums with female fronted pop vocals, ultimately creating the sort of ominous swirling atmosphere you can't help but move to. I've included a Soundcloud of their EP below, listen and find more details on what/where Hollow Earth is, here.
