Concert Review: Florence + The Machine

October 28, 2015

Last night Florence Welch and her incredible band took over Key Arena. They played two hours of back to back jams while the crowd went absolutely insane. The lights were bright and sparkled off a discoball background on the stage in time with the music. It was mesmerizing. At one point, Florence magically appeared at the back of the room and sang straight to the fans in the nose bleed seats.

Even though she broke her foot earlier this year, she was running around the stage and twirling and jumping like she was weightless. (This of course made me super jealous since my broken foot from January still hurts.) For one of her last songs she went into the crowd and touched the faces of a couple lucky fans who looked like they had just been blessed by The Pope. We danced, we sang along, we drank wine; it was incredible.

Here's how the show felt to me, as it was happening, via my tweets:

Yeah, she's amazing.

Florence ended the show with "The Drumming Song" which is one of my absolute favorites of hers. I hadn't heard it in years and it gave me goosebumps. It seems fitting that I should end this blog post the same way. Enjoy!
