Super Square 12a - 1a

It all started when Super Square cold tweeted Gregr several months ago, after Subtronic End kicked off. They introduced themselves, and within a few days I was playing their banging EDM anthem ‘Erase Me’. The track wenton to chart on Billboard and Beatport, and remixes are getting to be vast. But aside from prolific, talented artists, Super Square aregood people, and a pleasure to kick it with. So I invited them to the studio to sit down for a chat. Take a listen to the interview. And last week they came back for a guest mix. Here's what they threw down.

Don't Look Down(Super Square Remix) - Martin Garrix Ft. Usher

I thought I'd get things bouncing right off the bat this week with Oliver Heldens. And Eric Prydz 'Generate' is not going anywhere any time soon. I've playing it since it's release, and it's holding it's own on the Dance chart as we speak. Joeski released his beautiful Zeppelin rework earlier this year, and I've been playing 'Leave You' as much as possible (wondering when DJ's are going to start getting the cease and desist on that one, ha!) Sasha's music speaks for it's self, but if you haven't listened to Jonas Rathsmans 'Wolfsbane' it is a Techno gem.

On to set two, I kicked off with Maribou State. ‘Rituals’ debuted this year at the Winter Music Conference in Miami, and immediately became the sought after jam going in to Spring. I keep playing it at gigs, and on my show, and always get props from fans, or people who just discovered them. The album ‘Portraits’ is in my top 5 for the year so far, and doubt it’ll get bumped out before the year ends. The rest of the set was all about laying down a nice groove to set up for a mix through the Hardkiss double pack.

In May, Hardkiss records re-released their 'Dillusions of Grandeur’ Double pack, commemorating the 20yr anniversary. The tracks on this release defined West Coast dance music in the ’90’s. Since it’s original release, I’ve showed up at parties on three continents with nothing more than that double pack, and rocked it harder than anybody could imagine. The music is timeless. Although it’s echoes the sound of an era past, it still sounds fresh and inspiring. I decided upon it’s release to play through pretty much the whole thing, and did so a month or so ago. I had such a huge response via email and twitter, that I played through it again last weekend. Although lovers of music enjoyed what it has to offer, those sets were truly for the Heads. It was also a beautiful contrast to what Super Square came with right after.
